As a vibrant retirement community, the Coachella Valley is home to a significant number of Holocaust survivors. Many of the survivors are troubled by the thought that the world will forget - or deny - the horrors they experienced. By forging a relationship with a teenager, and having the opportunity to share their stories of a dark period in our history, as well as life lessons learned, the survivors are encouraged, knowing that their experiences will not be forgotten, and will not be in vain. Seeing that young people truly care is a source of solace to them.

Many of the survivors are elderly, and live alone. The Sunshine Circle is in touch with the survivors regularly. We want them to know that we care about them and they are not alone.
